Destiny 2 Guide: Unlocking All Barrow-Dyad Catalysts

In the latest expansion of Destiny 2, players have the exciting opportunity to unlock the powerful Barrow-Dyad Catalysts. Unlike previous expansion packs where players simply needed to replay missions to unlock their Catalysts, the process for unlocking these is much more intricate. You will need to complete special quests, meet certain requirements, and tackle unique challenges across multiple activities in the game. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to unlock the High-Impact Reserves, Hatchling, One for All, and Target Lock Catalysts for the Barrow-Dyad.

High-Impact Reserves Catalyst
The High-Impact Reserves Catalyst for Barrow-Dyad can be unlocked by completing an Expert version of the Court of Blades activity while equipped with the Barrow-Dyad Exotic submachine gun. Upon completing this activity, you’ll receive the “Sharp Osseous Spine” quest. Head to the Shaping Slab in Eris' apartment and exchange the quest for “A Needle’s Path.”

To progress with “A Needle’s Path,” you must first rank up the Path of Resolve to reputation level 12. This requires completing various episodic activities, which can be made easier by wearing the episodic armor. After reaching level 12, you'll need to tackle another Expert-level Court of Blades, but this time, you are limited to using precision weapons only, including Scout Rifles, Sniper Rifles, and Linear Fusion Rifles—alongside your Barrow-Dyad. Completing this challenge will reward you with the High-Impact Reserves Catalyst, which you can use to upgrade your Barrow-Dyad at The Enclave.

Hatchling Catalyst
Unlocking the Hatchling Catalyst requires a bit of portal hunting in the Dreadnaught. First, ensure that you’ve obtained the High-Impact Reserves Catalyst and recrafted Barrow-Dyad with it. Then, complete the second week of the Act 2 story and unlock the Path of Ambition. After this, equip your Barrow-Dyad and proceed to search for the secret portal in the Trenchway of The Nether.

Once you’ve reached the Trenchway area, cross the large chasm and look to the left side of the platform. You’ll see an indent on the wall that leads into a hidden room. Use your Ghost to reveal invisible platforms that you can jump across to reach the secret room. In this room, interact with the device labeled “Rites of the Deep Tithe Found Worthy” and jump through the Taken portal that opens. Loot both chests, and you’ll receive a Heavy Osseous Spine, which can be exchanged at the Shaping Slab for the quest “A Hammer’s Path.”

The next step involves reaching rank 12 in the Path of Ambition by completing seasonal activities such as the Court of Blades and The Nether. Once you’ve achieved this rank, you’ll be tasked with completing an Expert-level version of The Nether using close-range weapons, such as Shotguns, Glaives, and Swords. If you complete this challenge, you’ll earn the Hatchling Catalyst, which you can use to reshape Barrow-Dyad.
